Context

míde research is an all-island, cross-institute consortium set up to conduct high-quality interdisciplinary research. Our consortium aims to understand, intervene on and ultimately improve the health, wellbeing, participation and performance of women and girls in and through, sport, exercise, and physical activity.

This consortium is grounded in people and projects advancing research on women in sport, exercise, physical activity and health across Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) on the island of Ireland, as well as drawing on the expertise of researchers worldwide interested in the Irish context. With a growing commitment to women’s sport and health, reflected in dedicated strategies, policies, and initiatives, there is an urgent need to harness current research opportunities and shape the research agenda of the future, using a coordinated, strategic, and impactful approach.
